Sanjusangendo Temple is a Buddhist temple featuring the main hall, which is designated as a National Treasure. The interior of the hall houses 1,001 statues of Kannon, creating an atmosphere described as a forest of Buddha statues. The grounds also include a stroll-style garden with a pond designed to recreate its historical appearance. This site was originally established within the detached palace of Emperor Go-Shirakawa.
