Namba Yasaka Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Osaka’s Namba district. Its most distinctive structure is the Shishiden, a stage shaped like an enormous lion’s head with an open mouth. The image is associated with swallowing evil and bringing victory or good fortune, and the shrine remains closely connected with the history and festivals of the surrounding neighborhood.
