東茶屋街 志摩

Shima is a preserved chaya, or geisha teahouse, in Kanazawa’s Higashi Chaya District. Built in 1820, the two-story wooden building retains rooms used for entertaining guests, with decorative fittings, musical instruments, and objects connected with chaya culture. It is designated an Important Cultural Property and offers a rare view of the architecture and refined social customs of an Edo-period entertainment district.
