Kyoto Gyoen National Garden

Kyoto Gyoen National Garden is a large central park in Kyoto framed by more than a thousand years of history and seasonal greenery. Official materials describe the Kyoto Imperial Palace area as the long-time seat of the emperor and government until the capital moved to Tokyo in the Meiji era. Visitors come for open park walks through grounds that once surrounded the palace and court residences.
