Shijimizuka site

蜆塚遺跡

Shijimizuka site is the national historic park centered on the Jomon shell-mound settlement in Shijimizuka, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture (museum contact 053-456-2208). The park grounds are currently open for free entry at any time; visitors should stay outside fenced shell-mound areas and avoid fire, ball games, and unleashed dogs. The preserved shell-layer viewing facility, reconstructed houses, and relocated Takayama House are open only on Hamamatsu City Museum open days, which exclude Monday and the day after a national holiday. Confirm museum open days and temporary closures before travel if you plan to enter those buildings.
