The Sōja City Machikado Local Museum is housed in a former police station building constructed in 1910. It is the only remaining Western-style architecture from the Meiji era in the city and is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property. The museum displays materials related to traditional industries centered around the Meiji period, including Bitchu medicine, Aso casting, and products made from rush grass.
