Located in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, the Ōfune Site is a historic site designated on August 13, 2001. The site contains evidence of Jomon period habitation, specifically Stage IIb from approximately 2,500 BCE to 2,000 BCE. Archaeological findings include large pit dwellings with stone-surrounded hearths and an artificial earthen mound likely used for burial practices.
