Teshima Art Museum on a hill above Karato was created by artist Rei Naito with architect Ryue Nishizawa as a droplet-shaped concrete shell about 40 by 60 meters with no columns. Official Benesse Art Site pages describe restored rice terraces, two roof openings that bring in wind, sound and light, an indoor “spring” that appears through the day, seasonal hours, Tuesday closures in most months, and timed online tickets.
