Located in the Tsukidate district of Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture, Waga Shrine is one of the seven shrines of Kurihara listed in the Engi Shiki Naisha. The shrine is associated with a legend where an emperor stayed at this location during a journey to the northeast. It was also known by the name Shinyama Gongen and was designated as a Heihaku Kyoshin shrine in March 1905.
