Miyazawa Kenji Fairy Tale Village in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture, is an outdoor and indoor learning site inspired by the imaginative world of Kenji Miyazawa. Areas such as Galaxy Station, Sky Plaza, Kenji’s School, Kenji’s Classroom, fairy and owl forest paths, and a wildflower garden invite visitors to explore story themes through spaces rather than text alone. Inside Kenji’s School, zones named for cosmos, sky, earth, and water organize the experience, while the classroom log house presents plants, animals, stars, birds, and stones from the tales. Plan more than a quick look—school galleries may take about fifteen minutes and the classroom about thirty, with extra time for the forest walks. Come when you want a family-friendly Hanamaki stop that connects literature to landscape.
