The Bashō Memorial Museum was established in 1959 as part of a project to honor the haiku poet Bashō. The facility houses the Bashō Library, which preserves numerous materials related to renga and haikai from the early modern period to the present day, including authentic works by Bashō. These historical documents and artifacts are displayed within the exhibition rooms.
