Unzen-Amakusa National Park

Unzen-Amakusa National Park spans volcanic Unzen on the Shimabara Peninsula and the Amakusa islands, with about 28,335 hectares of land across Nagasaki, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima prefectures. Ministry of the Environment pages state it began in 1934 as one of Japan's first national parks (Unzen) and added the Amakusa area in 1956 under the current name.
