Located in Saitama Prefecture, Kangi-in Temple was established in 1197 by Saito Munemitsu, who became a monk and took the name Ashobo Ryo-o. The temple is associated with the deity Shoten, also known as Daisho Kangi-ten, a deity of fortune and warding off misfortune. The site's history dates back to 1179 when the local official Saito Betto Sanemori first enshrined the main deity.
