Asai Shrine (Takaoka Ishizutsumi)

Asai Shrine (Takaoka Ishizutsumi) in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, is described as an Engishiki-listed ancient shrine traditionally founded in 717. Its origin story says worshippers built stone embankments and a shrine hall to guard against flooding on the Oyabe River and protect irrigated farming, earning the nickname Kawabata-no-miya. The chief deity is Mitsuhano-me-no-kami. Traditional rites named on the site include the Hisago Festival for fire protection and long life, the Oharemi Festival for weather divination, and the Senkoku Hyakkan Festival focused on thanksgiving. The shrine stands at 3599 Ishizutsumi, Takaoka.
