月形樺戸博物館

Tsukigata Kabato Museum presents the 39-year history of the Kabato shujikan (penal colony) through rich historical materials. Town materials say it opened to the public in 1973 as the Hokkaido Penal History Museum, was renamed in 1996, and renovated its displays in 2012. The former main office building dates to Meiji 14 and later served as a town hall before becoming a museum; a sculpture gallery for local artist Meiji Honda opened in an annex in 2023.
