Sunomata Local History Museum, also known as Sunomata Overnight Castle, opened in April 1991 on the site linked to the 1566 fortress associated with Kinoshita Tokichiro, later Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Official pages say displays follow Maeno family documents publicized in 1977 and focus on the castle-building story and Hideyoshi’s path as a learning venue about Taiko Hideyoshi.
