Ōuchiyama Zoo

大内山動物園

Ōuchiyama Zoo is a privately managed zoo located in Ōuchi-yama, Daiki Town, Dōai District, Mie Prefecture. The facility houses approximately 400 animals, half of which are rescued from the wild due to injuries or the closure of other facilities. Notably, it maintains lions and tigers; these specific individuals were introduced by a former director in 1973. Due to modern regulations making it nearly impossible for private zoos to house such large predators, the facility is considered rare.
