Futatabi Park is a Kobe urban park around Mount Futatabi, about a 20-minute drive from Sannomiya. Official pages highlight azaleas and autumn foliage around Shuhugenbara Pond, the Kobe Foreigners' Cemetery, and Rokko afforestation origins from 1902. The park opened in March 1937 on about 51.5 hectares with free, always-open grounds. In February 2007 it was designated a national Place of Scenic Beauty together with the permanent vegetation preserve and cemetery—the first such urban park in Japan. It is also listed among Japan's 100 Historical Parks.
