Usakumai Sites

ウサクマイ遺跡群

The Usakumai Sites near Chitose form a National Historic Site designated on 23 May 1979, protecting about 146 hectares along the Naibetsu River—one of Japan's 100 Famous Waters—and the Usakumai C site on the Chitose River. Official pages note habitation from about 7,000 years ago through Jomon, Epi-Jomon, Satsumon, Ainu, and modern periods, with a visitor course showing Satsumon pit-dwelling hollows.
