鞆の浦

Tomonoura is a port town on the Seto Inland Sea that has maintained its historical streetscape since the Manyo period. Formerly prosperous as a tide-waiting port, it was featured in the Manyoshu, Japan's oldest poetry collection. The area is recognized for its scenic views of islands such as Sensuijima and Bentenjima. In 2018, the town's early modern port culture was designated as a Japanese Heritage site.
