Noto Peninsula

能登半島

The Noto Peninsula extends into the Sea of Japan from northern Ishikawa Prefecture. Its coastal terraces, fishing villages, rice fields, forests, and traditional festivals form a closely connected satoyama and satoumi landscape. Farming, forestry, fishing, and community customs have shaped the peninsula’s biodiversity and culture, recognized internationally through the Noto’s Satoyama and Satoumi agricultural heritage system.
